Manufacturing In Space

The future of space exploration is dependent upon large-scale facilities located at Low Earth Orbit and throughout our solar system, wherever it is feasible. Not only will the space facilities be larger and more complex than the current International Space Station, they must be self-sustaining and self-sufficient in communication with the Earth.

In order for this to be implemented, this space station must have the capacity for manufacturing, not only to repair and to replace parts of other space vehicles, but also to build the components of larger structures as needed.

Astronauts and space travelers must be able to manufacture components, repair and assemble systems especially in case of an emergency when lives must be saved. The implementation of manufacturing in space will take place in several stages as knowledge increases and the technology advances.
